A 2,000 acre farm and winery owned by the same family for more than two centuries that’s now among the most celebrated spa retreats in Europe.
Just about spa treatments. Activities here include hot air balloon rides, mountain biking, archeological hikes, ethnobotanical walks with experts...should we go on?
If you want to check in and stay forever here, you wouldn’t be the first. The property feels like your own private Portuguese estate by design. You may opt to stay in anything from a Winery Room that is, yes, so close to their winery you can smell it, with views overlooking the reflecting pools or grain silos, or a barrel-roofed Barn Cottage ensconced in olive trees that have stood there for hundreds of years. Amenities include Egyptian cotton linens, underfloor heating in the baths, cloud-like down bedding and zippy Wi-Fi. Oh, did we mention the on-site restaurants would satisfy Martha Stewart herself, with dishes like acorn-fed pig and breaded octopus with chickpea rice?
So much is included in your stay that it nearly feels all-inclusive: you’ll have a hearty farm breakfast each morning (complete with just-baked artisanal bread, natch); access to the spa’s cedar hot bath, dry saunas and more; loaner bikes and, for wee guests, a playroom and even a treasure hunt they won’t soon forget.
After a few days on this exquisite farm, you don’t even think you need a spa treatment. The fresh olive grove-scented air has done wonders for your morale—and your stress-induced back pain. But when you see they offer a 50-minute detoxing oil scrub and massage with pomegranate oil, you have to say “yaaaas.” Nothing says “vacation” like becoming good enough to eat yourself.
