Positano is a fishing village turned chic resort, and Le Sirenuse is its glamorous heart. An aristocratic 18th-century villa turned legendary hotel, it has a lived-in elegance and the most dramatic view on the entire Amalfi Coast. Run by Antonio Sersale and his family with careful attention to detail, the hotel has 58 rooms, each unique. Most have vaulted ceilings, white walls, antiques and handmade tile floors; many have a private balcony or terrace. Small details like a well-chosen selection of in-room CDs and books and delicious baked goods at turndown are what makes a stay here so memorable. So does the ethereally beautiful restaurant, La Sponda, with its emerald-green floors and ceilings laced with vines and flowers. The pool area, too, is a work of art, lined with potted lemon trees and overlooking the amphitheater that is Positano's bay. The Aveda spa is one of the best in the area; however, there is no beach club.

You want to be in the heart of the action, surrounded by exquisite taste and beautiful people (and don't mind the hefty price tag).
