From a family's collection of wine caves to a collection of luxury suites, Canaves has transformed one of Santorini’s highest cliffs into something out of a dream. The property is dual-sided, somewhat confusingly: Canaves Oia Hotel and Canaves Oia Suites are owned and run by the same local family and are both (despite the nomenclature) all-suite properties. They’re just a one-minute stroll away from one another and share restaurants and a spa. Canaves Oia Hotel is the eastern portion of the property—18 bright white suites cut directly into the cliff and presciently staggered so each suite enjoys an unobstructed view of Santorini’s famous caldera. Canaves translates to “cave houses,” but the suites are anything but cave-like. Domed ceilings, wooden accents and a minimalist aesthetic create an intimate, contemporary feel. Most suites have private plunge pools molded into their balconies—which are almost impossible to leave. Why? The view. It’s the real-life version of your phone’s travel-inspo background.
